I offer 3 distinct services as a Writing Doula. If you are interested in growing your writing practice, please see my offerings below for what best matches your goals. Sessions are 90 minutes, which includes my 1/2 hour of reviewing your work prior to our meeting and our 1-hour Skype consultation.

Writers generally commit to twice monthly sessions.  I encourage an initial assessment session to determine fit before moving forward with our work.

ACADEMIC  & NON FICTION DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING
$145/90-Minute Session
STUDENT PRICE: $100/Session

My role as a developmental editor is to focus on the big picture: shaping the content, voice, and form of the writing, while helping you understand the psychology of your writing process. I pay particular attention to where you might be blocked as a writer, as well as how your method and methodology serve your larger goals as a writer and/or scholar. Then, once your manuscript or article has been thoroughly developed and before you submit to an agent or publisher, your manuscript will need to be copyedited. A copyeditor helps put a polish on your prose, making sure it’s clear, accurate, grammatical, consistent, and concise. I offer copyediting services for your projects via a partnership with awardwinning writer and editor Dr. Jenny Blair.

FEMINIST-SOMATIC WRITING PRACTICES
$100/90-Minute Session

This service is specifically designed for women and non-binary gender folks or anyone wanting to use writing practices as a method of mind-body healing within a culture of gender hierarchy. The focus is less on a product or a particular writing project and more on how a regular practice of creative writing can support your voice. We nurture embodied epistemologies, or, how you might read your own body as a sacred text about your own life and the larger power structures in which life is lived. Contemplative exercises are used alongside writing prompts.

Together, we 1) explore how systemic structures (of gender, sexuality, race, class, disability, etc.) are impacting your experiences, affective labor, mental and physical health, and relationship with yourself and 2) work (and play!) toward how somatic writing practices could be a source of power, knowledge, resistance, and healing. I bring both my training in critical social theory and counseling psychology to our work together (though this offering is not therapy).

This Writing Doula service can be paired with my 8-module course on Developing Feminist Imaginations ($295).

CRITICAL THEORY & WRITING COACHING
$145/90-Minute Session

This offering is best for folks who both want to explore their creative process and gestate with complex questions of structural injustice and historical change. If you feel yourself attuned to the revolutions underway—to heal the damage we’ve done to our earth; to end white supremacism; to dismantle patriarchy; to attend to the goodness of life on this planet that beckons us to be part of communal (r)evolutions—if these kinds of concerns beat close to your heart, then this creative partnership will help support you and your work.

Please note that this work together involves rich intellectual and affective labor. We embrace hard questions at the intersection of historical violence (racial, gendered, colonial, economic, epistemic) and the contemporary injustice fueling the economic and political systems in which we live and move and have our being. I bring both my training in critical social theory and counseling psychology to our work together (though this offering is not therapy). This Writing Doula service can be paired with my 8-module course on Developing Feminist Imaginations ($295).
